Five Dollars!

A while back..I was driving past a small thrift store when what to my wondering eyes should appear...six cane backed chairs and a dining room table...for FIVE DOLLARS! They were right there...outside the store, begging to be taken home. I couldn't say no...now could I? They practically jumped into my car, I tell you!
I only needed two chairs, so I left the rest behind.....and kicked myself for a few days afterwards. I really don't need a dining room table and four more chairs...but I'm sure I could have found something to do with them.
What I did need though was two matching chairs for my sCraproom. The cane chairs were in pretty good shape, except for the rose velvet seats....which...I thought would be much better reupholstered in ...are you ready...drop cloth. After taking the seats off, I spray painted the two chairs with a couple of coats of .99 cent flat black spray paint and finished them off with my new BFF, Rustoleum's Oil Rubbed Bronze. With my Cricut and the Home Decor cartridge, I cut the crown stencils. After ironing them onto the drop cloth fabric, I simply spray painted them with the same flat black spray paint
I used on the chairs. Super simple!
So...what do you think?
Thanks so much for dropping by!

  1. I think if you have room for two chairs in your scrap room, I'm moving in! :-) But seriously...very "Martha Stewart" of you, and they turned out so nice!

  2. The chairs turned out great, Sheri. How many times have I walked away from something I should have bought and kicked myself for a long time afterwards. You did a great job of bringing them back to life, they look fabulous.
