McGill Carnations

Today, I get to share with you a project that I made for McGill with their wonderful Paper Blossom Punches.
There are upwards of 20 McGill Carnations on this project, and I really do love the way the Carnations turned out.
McGill Paper Punches:
     -64002 Floriano Paper Blossom Punch
     -64511 Star Lily Paper Blossom Punch
     -64535 Highland Snowflake Paper Blossom Punch
     -65800 Tool Kit
     -65900 Molding Mat
Additional Supplies:
     -Various shades of pink card stock
     -Various shades pink ink (or coloring the edges of each petal)
     -Pink Seam Binding
     -Pink Acrylic Paint
     -Mercury Glass Vase
     -3" Styrofoam Ball
     -Beacon's Fabric Tac
-Beacon's 3 in 1 Adhesive
Create 20 to 25 Carnations following these instructions:

Project Instructions:

Paint Styrofoam ball with pink acrylic paint. Allow to dry. Place into the vase.
Using Beacon's 3 in 1 Adhesive adhere the McGill Carnations onto the Styrofoam ball.
Tie a length of pink seam binding around the vase.

Mini Valentine’s Cards

I am full of ideas for the McGill Heart Silhouettes and Shadows Punch set…and these little cards could not have been easier and they are the perfect size for tucking in a lunch bag…or leaving on a vanity…or a sock drawer…or a night stand…or a dash board…Somewhere fun…and not the closet where the vacuum is kept, because who’s beside you or I are going to see that? Hmm?

My teeny sentiments were computer generated and punched out with the McGill Scallop Multi Tag.

In a well ventilated room (or even better…, outside) apply Spray Adhesive to Heart Silhouettes and apply fine glitter. The glitter stay put…really well!

Project Instructions:

Using the Heart Silhouettes and Shadows Punches, punch Hearts Shapes with 4 different shades of card stock. Spray Silhouettes with adhesive. Add glitter. Adhere to the Shadow Heart with pop dots.
Trim 4 pieces of Kraft card stock to 6 x 3. Score at 3" and fold in half.
Trim a piece of patterned paper to a 2 3/4 inch square. Adhere to card front with glue.
Punch 4 Kraft card stock shapes with the Lg. Fancy Square punch . Adhere shape to patterned paper layer.
Adhere Silhouettes and Shadows Hearts to the Lg. Fancy Square shapes
Print Valentine's sentiments. Punch sentiments out with the Scallop Multi Tag Punch.
Adhere to card with glue. Add a button with twine.

When I say that I excited to to be on the iCopic Lover’s Design Team….that really doesn’t quite…let you know how excited I really am…I’m so excited that you might just have to pinch me to make sure I’m not dreaming… Just be gentle….OK? I was able to stop by the iCopic showroom yesterday, where I lucky enough to meet Ashley…and can you imagine how hard my chin hit the ground when I saw all those markers…and stamps…and paper pads…and Washi Tape and all the other fun stuff….Holey Moley. It was seriously Copic heaven. If you are ever in the Orange County, CA area…you should do yourself a huge favor and just go see for yourself.
My first card for iCopic Lover features one of my favorite stamps from Magnolia, Tilda with Lace Jeans. I colored her jeans with combination of B91, B95 and B97. Her lace and shirt are 0, C1 & C3. I also air brushed the sky with B95 and darkened the first layer of patterned paper also. It gave the patterned paper a very nice tone on tone look.

Trim a piece of Kraft card stock to 4 1/4 x 11. Score at 5 1/2 and fold in half. Round the ends of the card with the Corner Rounder Punch.
Trim a piece of patterned paper to 4 x 5 1/2.
Trim a coordinating piece of patterned paper to 4 x 2 and adhere to the bottom of the first piece of patterned paper. Round the bottom corners on the Corner Rounder Punch.
Punch a shape of additional patterned paper with the X Large Fancy Square Lever Punch.
Punch a shape of Kraft card stock with Large Fancy Square Lover Punch.
Stamp sentiment on to a 1 x 4 inch strip of Kraft card stock. Using the Square Stacking Punch, create the flag shape on one end of the strip. Adhere to the X Large Fancy Square Shape.
Using pop dots, adhere the Large Fancy Square Shape on to these shapes
Punch 2 pieces of coordinating Red paper with the Silhouettes and Shadows punches. Trim pop dots to fit behind the Silhouette heart shape. Adhere to the top of the Large Fancy Square shape with Beacon's 3 in 1 Adhesive.
(tip: color the pop dots with a marker to match the color of paper you are using) :)

Happy New Year Friends! I have so much to share with you today, so please try to stick with me to the end for my exciting announcement!! First of all, I have this fun Bon Bon holder for Valentine’s Day (ACK!! I know!Valentine’s Day!!) that I made following this tutorial over at Scor-Pal. My chocolate treats, are the not required…but highly recommended Dark Chocolate Reese Peanut Butter Cups, embellished with a McGill Silhouette Heart for the tops and bottoms of each treat. Each bon Bon Box fits two treats…perfectly! The hardest part of this project was trying to prevent these from making it into my tummy instead of the Bon Bon Box.

McGill Supplies Used:

-81011 Heart Silhouette Punch

-53700 5/16" Round Punch Line Punch

Additional Supplies:
     -Martha Stewart Valentine 12 x 12 Paper Pad
     -White Ribbon
     -Scor Pal
     -Glue Dots

Project Instructions:

Create a Bon Bon Box following these instructions. Punch holes in the top of the box with the McGill 5/16 Round Punch
Punch Silhouette Hearts out of coordinating paper to create covers for candies and tag.
Adhere heart shapes to candy with glue dots.

Creating the Azalea:

Click photo for full printable pdf

Project Instructions:

Create Azalea with the instructions above. Once done set it aside
Trim cream cardstock to 11" x 4 1/4". Score at 5 1/2 and fold.
Cut patterned paper to 5 1/4" x 4". Adhere to card base.
Cut a coordinating piece of patterned paper to 3" x 4". Adhere to the bottom half of the first patterned paper.
With the Fancy Square Punch, punch an additional piece of coordinating patterned paper and adhere to the middle of the card front
On a strip of coordinating patterned paper, stamp sentiment and punch one end of the strip in a flag shape with square punch. Adhere to the center of the Fancy Square shape
Embellish with a McGill Azalea.

One more Christmas Card before my favorite day arrives.

Create Poinsettia as instructed above. Add glitter to edges and set aside for glitter to set.
Cut brown cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11. Score at 5 1/2. Fold in half to create your card base
Cut patterned paper to 4 1/2 by 3 3/4.
Cut another piece of patterned paper to 2 1/2 by 3 3/4. Adhere to the bottom of the first piece of patterned paper. Die cut one end with the Edger's die.
Stamp sentiment on the bottom of the patterned paper.
Cut a strip of patterned paper to 2 x 5. Using the Square punch at an angle, punch the ends of the strip and adhere to the card.
Embellish with the glittered McGill Poinsettia.

Our family had our 2nd Annual Week before Christmas Pajama Party last weekend. Super comfy and relaxing and pretty darn hysterical too. Check out my brother in the Sock Monkey pj’s in the back row, complete with Sock Monkey feet too, of course. I was there when he tried those things on. He even came out of the dressing room to show us!!! That photo shoot nearly ended up on YouTube…but I behaved….

Here’s a photo of my daughter’s newest addition to her family too. A gorgeous mini Golden Doodle. Her name is Bella…and she could not be anymore precious!

Christmas Place Card with McGill

Hi there! It’s Wednesday..and it getting closer to Friday..so that is a very, very good thing, right? Right!

McGill has a bunch of adorable Dimensional Punches and I thought I would show you a very easy to make Place Card Holder, using the McGill Angel Dimensional Punch, perfect for a Christmas Eve Dinner or Brunch.

Instructions for Angel:

Using coordinating paper, punch out the Angel layers 3 times
Adhere each of the layers on top of one another.
Apply Gold Paint Pen to the wings and stars and adhere
to Angel, once dry.
Apply Glossy Accents to Angel and set aside to dry

Creating the Place Card:

Trim cardstock to 3"x4 1/2". Score at 2 1/2" and fold in half.
Round corners with corner rounder.
Trim pattern paper to 2 7/8"x 2 1/2". Round corners with corner rounder and adhere to the center of card.
Using coordinating cardstock, punch the Vintage Label twice. Swap pieces and adhere centers. Apply name to one and adhere to card.
Adhere the Angel you created from instructions above to the card.
Finish place card by embellishing with rhinestones.

I’m back…. from vacation… We went on a cruise with the family and had such a great time. My very favorite part of the cruise was just spending 5 days with my family…building happy memories. After every thing is said and done…family is the most wonderful gift there is. In fact, we had so much fun together…we spent the next 2 days going to Disneyland. I had to come back to work…just to relax.

I have two final Halloween projects for you today. Both showcase the wonderful McGill punches. Our McGill flower for the month was the Rose. There are actually two varieties of Roses that can be made with McGill punches but this time around I chose to make just the Floral Rose. There is a PDF on how to make the Floral Rose and the Garden Rose on the McGill Blog.

On a Halloween roll…

I have a Halloween Treat Box to share with you today…complete with a Black Rose made with McGill punches. I’m thinking I could either fill it with Candy Corn…or just slip a yummy Pumpkin Cookie in it for someone special.

To make the box, I simply followed this tutorial from the Scor-Pal site along with this tutorial from McGill.

Halloween is by far, one of my favorite holidays…just after Christmas. I love all the fun décor and spooky parties with the family. The candy, of course, isn’t such a bad thing either….Sadly, we won’t be having a Halloween Party this year, as we will be going out of town towards the end of the month….and I just wasn’t sure I could pull it off without pulling my hair out. Scrappy Frogs Fruity Tooty Challenge

Good morning! I hope you’re enjoying your Monday. I’m am trying, but I have to wonder why do Monday’s have to come so fast…and Fridays seem take forever to get here. I spent a lot of time in my craft room this last weekend looking for my mojo. I’m pretty sure it was buried under a large mess on my craft table. Also, I had recently taken the Inspiration Showcase Online Card with Jennifer McGuire and was itching to get back at it. I had such fun learning new techniques and just playing. I’m hoping… it just might have been the "little blue pill” my mojo needed.

Starting today, Scrappy Frogs is having a fruit challenge, so I was happy to be able to use one of my Papertrey Ink Stamps, Fruit Fusion Cherries along with it’s matching die. Super simple card!

My project today, is for both the SSCC Sketch Challenge and the McGill Blog too.

My sentiment was printed on my computer.

So…I’ve been having fun in my craft room with my McGill Paper Blossoms Punches again!

One of the punches that the design team will be showcasing on the McGill Blog this month is the Geranium Punch. When I think of Geraniums, I think of window boxes and planters overflowing with gorgeous flowers. My patio has lots and lots of Geranium inspiration.Unfortunately, something is making a smorgasbord out of my geraniums at the moment.

For my flowers, I punched the petals with my Mini Petals Punch and sprayed them with Glimmer Mist to add depth.

The leaves were punched with the Small Geranium Punch and inked with Distress Inks. I added the individual leaves to the punched Pine Branches.

After shaping the flowers petals, I adhered them to 1” Styrofoam balls, cut in half.

The video for the Hydrangea Flower explains in detail, the basic steps for creating a Hydrangea Flower...which are pretty much the same as the Geranium Flower …and here is a PDF for the Geranium Flower.

McGill Sunflower Bouquet…in a Can…

Good morning!

So….. I went a little crazy making Sunflowers last weekend…but it was really fun…and very relaxing. I planted myself in my craft room, turned on Bravo…(Jeff Lewis cracks me up!) and just had fun. There’s a total of 7 large Sunflowers along with a couple carefully placed smaller ones too. To get the shape of a bouquet, a Styrofoam ball was wrapped in a scrap of burlap. The look of draping foliage was achieved by simply using the Dimensional Tree Branch Punch along with the Birch Leaf Punch. My “vase” is an empty Asparagus can.

That is it for me today. I’ll be back tomorrow with a Magnolia Card.

One more day and we’re THERE!!….he…he…he…

The other day, I came home to the most amazing box of goodies from McGill. It was like a Mary Poppins bag of sheer heaven. When I eyes focused on the Silhouette Butterfly punch…I could not contain myself. I had to start playing…. fast!!

I have been wanting to make a card using clear card base for some time…and this seems like a perfect time to give it a try. I used a over head projector sheet, cut to 4 1/4 X 11 and scored it at 5 1/2.

MSL Flowers meets SSCC Dog Days of Summer…..

So….this is almost…exactly what I looked like last week, while trying to catch my breath….as I walked up the path to Bridalveil Falls in Yosemite. For 26…. I sure felt OLD, but we really had such a fantastic time…and saw the most beautiful sites and I feel so blessed to be able to have enjoyed a vacation this year with both my husband and my beautiful Mom…OH! and Bayleigh too!

I feel like I’ve been sitting on my hands, while crossing my fingers AND bursting at the seams at the same time for so long! If you know me at all, you know I CAN’T Type on a good day..so this makes typing… so much more difficult.
I’m so excited to tell you, that I am lucky enough to be able to work with the wonderfully talented McGill Design Team! As you may know…I love to make paper flowers, in fact, I find it super relaxing …and now…I’ll be doing that, but so much more, since McGill has so many more fun punches to work with!

This has been such a terribly sad week. Two of our on-line friends have each experienced… what we as parents pray we never ever do, the loss of a child.

The first set of friends is Cindy and Kevin Echtinaw of StampingScrapping.com who lost their beautiful 27 year old daughter, Lindsay on Saturday, July 23.

Bring on the bling

This little guy is a La La Land Crafts Stamp named Summer Luka…and he just makes me giggle a little…. Can’t you just see him hitting the beach?

Our newest challenge at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central is Bling. The bling on my card was made by embossing a piece of cardstock with both green and blue Glitter Zing Embossing Powder. I think it seems to work pretty well with the beachy colors of my card too.

So…you might remember from my last post that, my two four legged grandchildren have been staying with us for the week. Have you ever watched the episode of I Love Lucy, where she takes on baby sitting? She thinks she’s baby sitting one very well behaved boy, but it turns out to be identical twins…who are such a challenge that their poor mother can’t find anyone to babysit them. Well….someone neglected to mention to me that they would require a trip outside every morning at 4 AM.

My couch….

They go home tonight…and I think Bayleigh is really going to miss his niece and nephew. Me too…just don’t tell Courtney, K? ;)

Our challenge at Magnolia Stamp Lovers is Summer Colors.

There is just something about pale blue gingham along with red, that reminds me of summer picnics at the park. For my card, I combined Tilda with a Kite along with Rufus.

I also added a bunch of flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts. Along the edges of the flowers, I dabbed a bit of Tim Holtz Stickles in Rock Candy.

I’m going to make this quick, since…I’m finally sitting down after running my self ragged this weekend…

and that was without hardly leaving the house!

We have our other 2 grandchildren, 2 mini dachshunds, staying with us for the week, which make 3 mini dachshunds and I large kitty at my feet. At the moment I have a gang of dachshunds darting around like a mini herd ferrets, with my kitty, Sarah Leigh thinking she a dachshund herder. It’s pretty hysterical.

First things first!! Happy 4th of July to my fellow Americans! My day started of by going out for a wonderful breakfast with the entire family. Following that, my Mom and I went down to my Dad’s grave to say Hi and place a festive red, white and blue pinwheel on his grave. It’s seems so hard to believe, but Dad passed away 10 years ago on July 5th. We all of course, still miss him so much.

Late this afternoon, we'll be having barbecued Swordfish, Halibut and Shrimp along some sweet corn and a Caesar salad at my daughter's. YUM!

Today's card is for the Scrappy Frogs Flower Challenge. This card is nearly all Papertrey Ink. I made the Background paper using Kraft cardstock along with a Papertrey Ink, The Year of Flowers, Carnation stamp. I used Copics to color the images and then stamped a large French Script background stamp from Stampin’ Up!. The Pink card stock was stamped with one of the Polka Dots Basics sets, also from Papertrey Ink.

Next, I wanted to share with a few organizational pieces that I’ve added to my Scrapbook Room.

The first of which is a Revolving Stamp Pad Holder that I purchased from an absolutely wonderful Seller on EBay, Cameron's Toyz.. This one will hold 60 Stampin’ Up! Ink pads. He even gave me enough spacers so that I could store my Distress Ink pads too. Sweet!

I’ve also recently purchased a Memorex CD holder from Target, which now stores all of my dies in one place.

Next up, is my solution for the smaller PTI $5.00 stamp sets. I simply purchased a very inexpensive single pocket photo album from Michaels... the really, really, REALLY inexpensive ones. Using an Exacto knife, I carefully sliced all the pages out, hence …the inexpensive photo albums. For the sets that have matching dies, I just store the die on the back side of the stamp set.

I keep all of my $5.00 PTI sets right along side the larger PTI Sets in a CD holder box, purchased from Ikea.

I also, set out recently to catalogue all of my stamps, inks and dies…and I’ve almost done it too!

I took a 3inch binder…and dressed it up a bit.

The last thing on my list of “fun” things to share with you is my Punch and Die Book.

I have pages for all of my punches and dies too. Now, when I want to see how a stamp will work with a particular die, I just grab this book, flip to the appropriate die shape, and place it onto the image in my Stamp Book. So easy!!! I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have everything organized like this. So far, I'm really enjoying this.

Today…is the first day of Summer and Independence Day is just weeks away here in the United States. So far, our weather in California has been unusually mild and I am really, really…REALLY LOVING IT! I have a feeling though that triple digits are lurking just around the corner. Yay.

On my Easel Card for the SSCC Red, White and Blue challenge, I combined a bit of paper piecing along with some Copic coloring. That Tilda with Stardress is working those Patriotic colors isn't she?

Making your own Embossing Plate

Do it yourself embossing folder

and….for those of you who prefer a written tutorial….here you go!

Cut a 5 x 6 1/2 piece of chipboard. I used the back of a 12 x 12 paper stack .

Using a paper punch, cut out about 24 butterflies.

With your favorite adhesive, glue the butterflies to your 6” x 5 1/2” piece of chipboard, 2 layers thick

in a random pattern…

Run through your die cutter with an embossing mat.

It looks so much better IRL…honest!

Now…sit back and admire your work.

Scrappy Frogs Use Red Challenge

Good Golly! It’s not wrong to love a set of stamps, is it? The stamps that Papertrey Ink came out with last month…made my toes curl….in a very good way, mind you! The first set is Garden Variety and it includes a bunch of fun Seed Packet options along with gardening tools and gloves. The second set is Year of Flowers. That set has all of Papertrey Inks Year of Flower stamps…but in mini versions!!!

Papertrey Ink actually had a seed packet die, but it wasn’t in stock when I placed my order soooooooo…I got my Cricut out again (that’s twice this month) and used the Crayon Box from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More to make a Seed Packet, which I am soooooo cleverly using as a gift card holder! I know..I’m such a smarty pants!

Today, it is my turn to kick off a brand new challenge over at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central and since I have a love for embossing, but never seem to be able to use it these days…I thought you might want to have some fun with me. It’s already Sunday! Time sure flies when you’re not at work, doesn’t it?

Today’s card is for the SSCC Masculine challenge and this was a really tough one for me…since I never seem to make masculine cards…and I have a feeling…I’m not alone there, right? For this challenge, I had to put my thinking cap on and after a ~~long, long time~~ a little bit, this is what I came up with. I combined Edwin w/Binoculars and the Island Hammock digital stamp from Make it Crafty. My Sentiment was computer generated. The leaves for my card came from the Cricut cartridge, Life’s a Beach.

Mini Tilda in a Big World

So…it looks like we made it through another week and I can almost see the weekend!

The current challenge over at MSL is embossing and since I couldn’t quite find the right embossing folder….I made one. It was super easy to do, so stay tuned for a tutorial to follow in a week or so.

For my card today, I combined two images. First, I chose the digital stamp, Whimsical Mushroom from Make it Crafty and of course, my mini Tilda w/Umbrella from Stamping Scrapping and….tons of flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts!

I could use two more days, just like the last two, please. I love having everything in order, chores finished, cool weather, windows open with fresh air coming in and the sound of the fountain in the backyard flowing while I stamp in my studio. Ahhh…So relaxing!! Our current challenge at MSL is a Graduation/Congratulations Challenge. Since I didn’t have any Graduation Maggies, I had to get a bit creative with what I had on hand. So…I picked the Magnolia Romantic Window along with Tilda with Rubber Boots. Perfect for a Congratulations card…No? Hey! I think it works! It looks to me like, Tilda threw open her window and shouted “Congratulations!” I know, I know…I’m a goofball.

Ok…off to work…yea!
